My Medical Practice Has Really Benefited From Using Medical Billing Companies, And I Am Very Pleased
I had always hoped that I would be able to use medical billing companies to help my small medical practice, but I felt like they were only for big hospitals or for super rich doctors. Like I said previously, I run a very small practice in a small town rural area. I don't make a lot of money, but I do a lot of general work and I'm extremely close to the people I serve. I have had some problems with billing since it is difficult for me and my nurse to follow up on every single bill when we have so much else to do in maintaining our practice.
Then one day out of nowhere, our heating system simply gave out and I was stunned at how much it was going to cost to fix it. We were in need of some extra funds, and our only valid option was to try to contact some of our patients and get some of our unpaid bills paid up. Of course we don't have overly many unpaid bills, but even just the amount that we have makes a difference. Most of our patients are very accountable about making their payments and are happy to do so, however, occasionally there are some who won't pay.
This was a very wearisome and difficult chore, ...
... and we discovered that our filing system was not actually very effective. Soon enough though, we got ahold of the patients who still owed money, and were able to collect most of it, and have sufficient to get our clinic back in shape. Unfortunately, a short while later I started hearing some weird noises from the furnace room.
This time I got a head start and tried to collect the unpaid bills before we had another problem. My nurse recommended that we look into medical billing services as that would take the burden off of us. I pondered this idea for a while and decided to look into it online. I was somewhat surprised to learn that medical billing companies are actually rather practical and affordable for even small clinics such as my own, and not primarily for large hospitals.
I signed us up and within a pretty short amount of time we saw that it was a very efficient way to collect bills and freed my nurse and I up to dedicate more time to the people of our community and make sure that we had enough money to keep our practice running with everything we needed. I am so glad we tried it, since it has truly improved our business and now that we have it I can't envision going without it.
