When compared to the traditional (old age) analogue TV, digital TV brings a lot of exciting new and innovative ways to enjoy our TV. Almost you can say that digital technology is transforming the way we are watching television. Many of the service providers are using this digital technology and have come up with cable services like ATT Digital TV.

A digital TV is quite new and more versatile in sending information. Even the signals are more compact than the current analogue systems. This naturally allows for multiple channels to occupy the same air space than a single analogue channel. Digital television has better image and sound quality than analogue TV and the reception is less affected by the weather. This is one of the benefits of digital TV.

Another basic benefit of digital TV is having a greater number of channels. One thing you need to know is that the streamlined nature of digital broadcasting means that more channels can be received through the standard TV aerial. There are also many channels which are still not currently available in the analog or aerial TV. So people are switching over to digital signals ...
... as they are providing people with more choices in respect of channels.

Besides that there is also an interactive feature that makes digital TV quite an affordable choice. That is because the space-efficiency of the digital signal allows for extras like interactive services such as TV schedules, which can be streamed in parallel with the standard channels. Nowadays, most set-top boxes support an electronic program guide, an on-screen TV guide which provides information on the program that you are currently watching such as the basic start or finish time and when the next program is due to start.

Another basic feature of digital TV is that it has a narrow bandwidth signal transmission. It means you can fit more channels in a certain range of frequencies and higher resolution on each channel. Besides that it takes less broadcast transmission power. Comparing to the analog and the antenna TV, you need a considerable amount of broadcast transmission power. Nowadays digital TVs are more compatible with modern technologies such as computers, DVD, Blu-Ray and modern video processors that are found in the TV.

In case of the picture, it is very much precise, sharp, and less blurry. The resolution is much higher and there is no disturbance caused due to weather or any exterior factors. You can enjoy uninterrupted entertainment and you won't compromise on your dose of entertainment. Also the payment is reasonable as you get to watch and enjoy the channels that you like and feel satisfied that you are paying for it. Also it can give you the feeling of being glad that there are unlimited entertainment channels like action, comedy, cartoon, adventure that just fills your living room.

Now the basic disadvantage is that signal can sometimes be fragile. This is only present in some areas and rarely happens. If you are bound to contact the technician, you will know that it is something related to RF/EM interference. Sometimes the reception that you basically get is all or nothing. It means that if your reception is not perfect, then the channel's sound will be choppy, the picture will start pixelating and sometimes can freeze up. This also is very rare as most of the advanced digital TV that are available in the market are able to overcome this disadvantage.

Another basic disadvantage is that digital tuners are more expensive than analog one. So sometimes when you compare the cost between the digital and analog TV, you may end by paying an extra amount for digital TV.

To put in a nutshell, digital TVs are the hottest properties in today’s TV entertainment business. Nothing can be compared to the technology and features that digital TV presents.
