Safety Vests – Not Just For Keeping You Safe
Does the term safety vest make you cringe? Sure, when you think about a safety vest you immediately think of those brightly colored vests that the school crossing guard used to wear or the traffic officer used to don when the traffic lights went out. And while they are great at keeping you safe so people can see you from a mile away, there are other reasons to get safety vests other than the usual safety issues. Here is what I am talking about.
Have you ever been to a busy construction site where seemingly anyone could walk on, grab a safety vest and walk through the area unnoticed? Well, if you haven’t just go to any large city doing construction and see just how easy it is. It can be scary that anyone who can get their hands on safety vests can walk on a site, jump in any heavy machinery and have a go at it simply because no one is paying attention or because there are way too many people on site to be able to tell who is who.
This is where a variety of safety vests could come in handy. If you ...
... thought that safety vests only came in bright orange then you are wrong. You can get them in a variety of colors which will be perfect so you can keep track of who is who. Let’s use the example of the busy construction site once more. Now, you can hand out the garden variety orange vests to your laborer and give lime safety vests to your upper management folks like foremen. You can also get another color for other workers on site. This will help you quickly determine who is who on your site at all times.
If you notice someone wandering around with a lime safety vest that looks like they are out of place then you will know that you have a trespasser on your site, or if someone doesn’t have one at all you will know to keep any eye on that person. This will also help you to quickly determine if there are workers in places they should not be. You can easily pick out by color if someone is off to the side and goofing off or if someone is just not in their required work area. The key here is being able to quickly use the different colors for your own purposes.
As you can see, safety vests are a great way to keep people safe and visible at all times. On job sites it works well to keep people from getting run over by heavy machinery or vehicles and also plays an even bigger role. Utilizing different colored safety vests on your site will help you to determine if you have any trespassers who should not be there or any workers who are just not doing what they are being paid to do on your site. Safety vests are not just for keeping your site safe, they are also handy in keeping people out and keeping workers in line.
