The World Of Conan Has Now Been Released

The much anticipated massively multiplayer online role playing game, Age of Conan, has been released this month by popular game developer Funcom.

Whilst the Age of Conan release schedule made it a prime competitor for Electronic Art's Warhammer Online, Funcom have managed to release the game almost 6 months prior to the predicted date given by Electronic Arts. Though their competitor received a far superior budget, many are anticipating AoC to defeat Warhammer Online as the game goes from strength to strength.

Previous and current MMORPGs are often criticized for being not following through on the theme of the game. Toning down the violence and bloodshed for more mainstream appeal is not something Funcom are willing to do with AoC.

AoC differs from most traditional MMOs. Whilst Anarchy Online was ahead of the field in developing the first futuristic online game to match the expectations of many players, Conan promises to innovate in the world of MMORPGs.

Hyboria is one of the MMORPG world's most anticipated arenas which is made clear in the press attention the game has received. Age of Conan has been inundated with pre-launch acclaim from several recognized outlets, something which has largely contributed to the massive signup numbers seen for the game's Beta version.
