You can get out of the confines of a boring office and be a free bird by becoming a driving instructor. Look at the advantages. If you become a driving instructor you have the privilege of being your own boss. You can pick the number of pupils that you think you can train and just concentrate on these. You have to be program-biased but you get to make that program. However, that is only one side of the story! A driving instructor needs total dedication and a great deal of patience. He has to manage his time well and must have exceptional level of concentration. There is a great sense of achievement to see your pupils with driving licenses but there is a fair amount of hard work before you reach that part of the story.
A driving instructor needs to be certified as an Approved Driving Instructor or ADI and registered by the Driving Standards Agency. Before you join one of the driving instructor courses you must meet ...
... the entry requirements. You must be at least 21 years of age. You must have held a full UK or EU car driving license for four of the last six years during which you must not have been disqualified from driving. You also need to clear an advanced criminal record check. Once you have completed the course and qualified you must apply for registration within 12 months of completion of the final part of the ADI examination.
There are several driving instructor training courses in the UK. There are franchised and independent driving instructor training companies that impart ADI training. Driving instructor training comprises of three sections. The first section covers the theory of driving while the second section deals with your driving ability. There is also a driving and eyesight test. The third and final section is on your instructional ability and is in two parts that deal with the quality of your instructions and the ability to pass on the knowledge to the pupils. It takes between 6 months and a year to be fully qualified as a driving instructor but if you try hard it is possible to be an approved driving instructor in three or four months.
