The free online games segment is flourishing by leaps and bounds, each day multiple of websites come into existence catering to the never ending demand for online games. The increased penetration of internet in today’s society has been instrumental in ushering in the era of free online games. Up until last decade only a few well-known sites existed and they were sufficient in catering to the demand of market. But the advent of the dot com revolution changed the entire landscape leading to more and more number of people hooked on to the internet.

Action games involve speed, thrill, violence and adrenaline gush. Those games are meant for the tough hearted. But unfortunately due to lack of parental control children also play those games and many a time are affected by it as well. There have been reports of kids engaging in game style stunt leading to injuries and fatalities. This has brought such games in to disrepute and many parent and governmental group have initiated action against the developer and marketer of such games.

Just like any invention, action games can also be utilized for good as well as bad. Similar to Dynamite, Sir Alfred Nobel discovered dynamite in order to blast rocks to make way for railways, roads etc. but unfortunately the invention was used for creating bombs for the sole purpose of destruction. Thus everything needs context in order to be judged and used. Most people play action games online for the adrenaline rush that it provides. But there is another aspect of these games that is seldom spoken in public domain. The psychiatric usage of online action games have been known only to a privileged few.
It is known to be helpful in visual attention problems. People with such problems have severe attention deficit and it has been proved that they have slower attention blink rate than normal persons. Such people have the problems relating to easy distractibility, procrastination, disorganisation, inattention and forgetfulness. In order to treat such people in a manner that they not only get cured but also enjoy in the process, action games play a very important role as they are based in fast moving environment and are highly dynamic in nature giving the necessary stimulation to the mind.
