Many of us like the idea of showing others how much busy we are at work. Okay, it is fine to an extent to show that you are working, but that doesn’t mean that we have to be lazy. Sometimes while working or doing no work at all; will make our minds inactive. It is similar to the English proverb ‘A Idle mind is a Devil’s Workshop’.

But you also need to remember that you cannot continue to act like you are working sincerely as one day you are bound to be found out by your superior or head. Anyway just like how the deals of various service providers like Charter deals are intriguing, the same are the rules that can show people you are sincere. The below are the following rules

Walk with a document

It is a nice idea if people walk with documents in their hand. People carrying documents look like hardworking employees who are headed to important meetings. But people who have nothing in their hand may look like the ones who are headed to the cafeteria. ... make sure to carry loads of stuffs home with you at night. This will generate a false impression that you are working longer hours than you really do.

Sit in front of the Computer

Whenever you use the computer, it will look like you are working to the casual observer. You can send and receive personal email, chat and have a blast without doing anything remotely related to work. These aren't social benefits but they are not bad either. See if you get caught by your boss, your best defense is to claim, that you were teaching yourself to use new software; thus saving valuable training dollars.

A Messy Desk

Usually top management can get away with a clean desk. For the rest of us, it looks like we are not working hard enough. Build huge piles of documents around your workspace. To the observer, it is the volume that counts. Pile them high and wide. If you know somebody is coming to your cubicle, bury the document you'll need halfway down in an existing stack and rummage for it when he or she arrives.

Using Voice Mails

Never answer your phone if you have voice mail. People don't call you just because they want to give you something for nothing. They call because they want you to do work for them. That's no way to live. Screen all your calls through voice mail. If somebody leaves a message for you and it sounds like impending work, respond during lunch hours when you know they're not there .It will look like you're hardworking and conscientious even though you're being a devious weasel.

Look Impatient and Annoyed

It would seem good if one always tries to look impatient and annoyed to give off the impression that you're always busy. Seriously, this technique always works in most of the situations.

Try to leave the Office Late

Always leave the office late, especially when the boss is still around. You could read magazines and storybooks that you always wanted to read. Make sure you walk past the boss' room on your way out. Also send important emails at unearthly hours like at 9:35pm, 7:05am, etc.

Develop non-understandable vocabularies

Try to read some computer magazines and pick out all the jargon and new products. Use the phrases freely when in conversation with bosses. Remember, they don't have to understand what you say, but you sure sound impressive.

So, by simply following these rules, you can create an image that you are hardworking and one of the best employees of the company. It may sound funny, but to an extent it is quite effective, in case you feel that you aren’t getting the recognition that you are needed.
