8 Super Sneaky Car Buying And Car Financing Tactics!

Buying a car is not something that most of us do every day, and it is easy to feel that you’re missing out on some of the nuances of the process. In fact, it can be very easy to feel like you’re being taken for a ride when buying a new car or organising car finance! 1.Discuss it in private!
If your new car purchase is a joint decision between you and your spouse, never discuss it in front of the car seller. They’ll pay you off against each other, which won’t be in the best interests of your wallet or your marriage. Always say, “Can we have a moment alone to discuss this?”, or simply tell them you’ll be back tomorrow!

2.Pre-arrange finance

3.Consider trade-ins last

4.Don’t tell them what you think
Car salespeople are trained to get around just about every objection under the sun. They do not hear the word ‘No’. So, don’t say anything about what you think about any of the cars. Ignore their questions along these lines, and simply ask them what you need to know.

5.Write down their answers
Writing down a salesperson’s answers to these questions lets them know that they are now accountable for what they tell you … so it better be able to stick! However it is easily justifiable – simply tell them you want to remember what they said when you’ve gone home to think about it.

6.Never give away your budget
Tell a car salesperson your budget, and they won’t go an inch below it. Don’t tell them, and you could get even more off the sticker price than you thought possible.

7.Think third party
Any extra services that dealers ‘kindly’ offer, such as extended warranties, repair and servicing agreements or in-house liability insurance are inevitably more expensive than purchasing from a third party. Shop around for everything; don’t let a seemingly low-priced ‘package’ of service fool you.

8.Think in terms of life-of-loan payments
There are plenty of tactics that in-house car finance companies use to make a monthly payment seem attractive, when it will actually cost you far more than any other option. So don’t tell them that you want a low monthly payment … they’ll give it to you, but it will come at a cost!
