It goes without saying that smoking causes serious damage to the teeth structure of a person, these substances found in cigarettes affect directly the gum which becomes weakened by the many diseases which can form in this area, since the gum is the underlying structure which provides some support to our teeth in addition to the jawbone, it is up because most important to take care of this tissue. Most heavy smokers have severely damaged gums which may trigger intense pain, bleeding, bad breath, missaligned structures and a whole array of dental problems.

People who smoke need more targeted and a more demanding dental care compared to people who do not smoke, some people might think that the number one reason why people lose their teeth is because of oral trauma or a very poor oral hygiene when the truth of the matter is that cigarette smoking is without a doubt the leading cause of tooth loss amongst most people, you can also say that smoking contributes to a very poor oral hygiene.

Smoking can also increase the chances of a person suffering from:

-- Loss of the supporting bone structure
-- Gum disease

... -- Inflammation and heavy bleeding
-- Leukoplakia
-- Oral, long or throat cancer
-- The loss of based and even smell
-- Severely stained teeth
-- Bad breath which is hard to overcome
-- An accelerated buildup of Tartar

As you can see the many diseases and conditions that can be acquired by continuously smoking cigarettes is quite alarming and in most cases can also turn out to be life-threatening, if a smoker decides to change this extremely bad habit and books an appointment with a dentist, there is a good chance that by performing a smile makeover which includes mouth reconstruction as well as several other cosmetic dental procedures, oral health can be restored.

A smile makeover will address many issues and conditions which need to be treated before any cosmetic procedure is applied in other words, if a person is in dire need of a root canal or teeth bonding, dental implants or such -- they need to be done prior to using other cosmetic pieces such as Veneers and treatments such as teeth whitening.
