Leap Into The Next Generation With Bt Infinity
Technology changes so fast - the internet's only really been around for twenty years, but we've had dial-up and now the world is predominantly using broadband. Even though we've only just got used to broadband in its current format, change is around the corner once again. BT, one of the UK's leading broadband service providers, is beginning to roll out super-fast fibre-optic broadband to homes and businesses across the country.
BT calls its most powerful broadband BT Infinity, which is part of some of the BT Broadband Packages available at the moment. Rather than sending electrical signals through copper wires the information is sent via a fibre-optic network at the speed of light. Launched commercially in January 2010, it carries speeds of up to 40MB, which make it as fast as any broadband service currently on the market with BT or any other provider. The high download speeds make it perfect for households and businesses which use the internet heavily, as multiple users can be online at the same time performing different tasks, such as watching BBC iPlayer or playing games, without decreasing the overall download speed. ...
... In addition, the connection is more stable and less likely to cut out.
While the 40MB BT Infinity is one of the best broadband services available, the latest incarnation of BT Infinity is about to trump it by carrying speeds of up to 100MB, which seems far faster than anyone could ever need. The company is currently rolling it out across the country, but at the moment only certain areas can access it. When it is available to everyone, it will constitute a real technological step up from the standard broadband we use today.
For now, though, the standard BT Home Broadband deals will have to do, and they're certainly not worth turning your nose up at. There are a number of packages available which provide all most people could ever want in a broadband service. All of the deals carry speeds of up to 20MB, which is enough for the average household to operate comfortably online. In addition, the Broadband and Evening and Weekend Calls and Broadband and Anytime Calls deals both include 10GB of monthly data usage, which is enough to download 2500 songs or 15 films every month. The More Broadband and Evening and Weekend Calls deal offers 40GB of data per month, which is enough to download 10,200 songs or 59 films, and the Unlimited Broadband and Evening and Weekend Calls deal which gives you an unlimited amount of data downloads. Because there are so many BT home broadband deals, therefore, it's not the end of the world if you can't get BT Infinity just yet.
The speeds that BT Infinity demonstrates represent the widespread present and future of broadband - we'll be able to perform the tasks that were so difficult on dial-up almost as soon as thinking about them. For now, though, we'll have to get by on the BT broadband packages that continue to serve us so well.
