Your Guide To Good Skin
Skin care is essentially a function of how we live our lives. Also count in the external factors of pollution, exposure to the sun and climatic fluctuations. The main idea behind discussing skin care is to make ourselves aware of exactly what we mean by skin care and what we can do to bring out the best in ourselves on our skin. Here are a few ground rules of caring for your skin:
Cleansing:
The importance of cleansing cannot be overemphasised. It washes off the dirt and excess oil from your skin, which is the very first step to good skin. Cleansers can be of various kinds. The basic bar type cleansers are the stronger ones which may lead to extreme dryness unless they are specially formulated for mild cleansing. The liquid cleansers are normally comparatively mild. Using a cleanser twice a day is enough. Make sure you don’t overdo it otherwise it will take away the natural softness of your skin.
Moisturising:
A good moisturiser supplies your skin with the necessary moisture and nutrients. It must also help your skin uphold its structure. Moisturisers usually consist of ingredients such as glycerol, ...
... ceramides, hydroxy acids and niacinamides in varying proportions. Using a moisturiser below your make-up protects it from damage. It is important to use a moisturiser that suits your skin type. Moisturisers for oily skin are much lighter and less creamy than ones for dry skin type. In short you must know your skin type before you choose a moisturiser. With the amount of products populating the skin care market, you will find various types of moisturisers available off the shelf. If you feel confused about what suits your skin type best, it is a good idea to consult a skin clinic for guidance. A good skin clinic can educate you about your skin type and help you with the products that suit you best.
Protecting:
The longer you stay outdoors the greater is the need to protect your skin from the external factors that are constantly bombarding your skin with impurities and heat. So it is not just about keeping your skin clean and moist. You also need to protect it by shielding it from the harmful elements. It is common knowledge that solar radiations consist of UV rays that scorch your skin, leaving it patchy and dull. Without protection, your skin will sag, lose elasticity and wrinkle up. Prolonged exposure and severe sunburns may even lead to skin cancer. Therefore, using sunscreens is an absolute must. You can find sunscreens, again off the shelf, in the form of lotions and creams. A sunscreen’s Sun Protection Factor (SPF) number is an indication of the duration for which it can protect your skin from the sun.
