Top Five Cosmetic Dentistry Procedures
The general conception of Dentistry has radically changed in the past few decades, this field has shifted from a health related approach to a more cosmetic nature, at least this how it is heavily marketed. Dentists who specialize in orthodontics in other fields within dentistry are obviously doing well and will always have a demand for their knowledge but, cosmetic dentistry is at the top when it comes to consumer awareness and popularity, let's take a look at the top five dental procedures which are performed in this last field.
Dental fillings:
Patients who need dental fillings often have the top part of the teeth or enamel somewhat compromised, in order for a dentist to prevent further decay of the teeth it is necessary to use materials which will fill the gap that has been created in such area, the first dental fillings were made of metals which don't resemble the natural look of the patient's teeth, this is why most people prefare to use composite materials and porcelain which blend in quite nicely.
Teeth whitening:
Every year more and more patients become concerned with the way their teeth ...
... and look, whether it is because they want to achieve a better look or because they want to keep good oral health, the concern for the color of their teeth is always present. This procedure can effectively improve the appearance of a person's oral cavity.
Dental Veneers:
These are special pieces made of porcelain or plastic which are bonded to the surface of a tooth in order to repair cracks and chips which may affect a person's look, this material can also be used in order to correct gaps between the teeth.
Bonding:
This is an alternative procedure which is used to repair chipped or broken teeth by applying a material which resembles enamel and is then reshaped in order to correct the imperfection.
Dental implants:
This are artificial replacements that are applied to a patient's oral cavity when a tooth is missing, the results of this procedure can be quite dramatic because people who are missing teeth tend to look a lot older since these missing pieces cause the face and the cheeks to collapse, good dental implants can make a person look a lot younger.
