Online Advertisement A Powerful Tool To Improve Sales

As the usage of Internet is increasing day-by-day, web has become a powerful advertisement tool. Online advertisement gives the opportunity to target specific group. Most of the companies are using online advertisement technique as the powerful secret weapon to improve their sales. The success of an advertisement depends on its ability to grab the attention of the audience. It’s the magic in the advertisement that makes people to buy a product.
AIDA method is the most widely accepted persuasive advertising technique. The method stands for attention, interest, desire and action. A successful advertisement will be a mix of these four elements. Internet is emerging as an effective medium for advertising. Going forward online advertising and marketing will become more popular than traditional adverting mediums such as radio, television, newspaper and magazines.
Types of online advertising:-
Email marketing – This is the widely used online advertising method. This method helps to send a common advertising message to a large group of people. Email advertising can generate new sales leads, increase web traffic, ...
... build a brand and retain customers. A survey result shows that nearly 91% of the U.S online adults use email. Most of the companies are using this method because it is simple and cheap.
Text advertisement- Advertisements displayed as simple, text based hyperlinks are known as text advertisement. Text advertisements are usually given on any individual’s site or the publishers own advertisement publishing sites. Text advertisements can give detailed information about the company’s product or service. People will check text advertisements when they plan to buy any product.
Display advertisement – Graphical advertisements displayed on web pages is called display advertisement. This type of advertisements can be given in any size or shape. Some of the display advertisement methods include banners, skyscrapers, large boxes, leader boxes and different shaped graphical advertisements. Banner advertisements can attract traffic to a website. Banners are mostly used to improve brand awareness, give information of new product, to disseminate idea, to make notifications and to encourage sales. Skyscrapers advertisements are dynamic. These types of advertisements allow users to interact with the brand.
Pop-up advertisements - Pop-up advertisements appear on windows when users browse through web sites. Floating advertisements and slide-in advertisements comes under pop-up advertisement category. But this advertisement technique is not effective today, as people are using pop-up blockers to block such advertisements.
Flash/DHTML advertisements – In this type of advertisement method, animation will be combined with the text. It’s the catchy text message or the funny animation that makes people to check the advertisement. The effectiveness s of these types of advertisements can be measured by calculating ROI or return on investment ratio.
Interstitial Advertisements – This type of advertisements appear between the web pages a user requests. As these advertisements come in the background, it won’t interrupt the loading page. This is one of the preferred methods of online advertisement. This type of advertising method will be a combination of rich text, video, applet or graphics. As these advertisements won’t interrupt a user from using his requested web page, they will click the interstitial ad link to know more about the story.
Video Ads- As watching online video became a trend today; most of the advertisers are concentrating more on video advertisement. Major search engines like Google, Yahoo or AOL are offering this type of advertising on their video websites. I am interested in watching online video advertisements on my home computer with connection from providers like Comcast deals. Most of the companies are getting good results from a 2 to 3 minute video advertisement. Not only companies, but also individuals are giving personal advertisements on the Internet.
