There is no doubt that cancer is one of the diseases that affect people most at the moment. There are several types of cancer and lymphoma is one of them. Lymphoma affects the immune system that is known as the lymphocytes. Lymphoma represents different types of cancers that affect the cells that play a significant role in the immune system. There are two major types of lymphoma Hodgkin’s lymphoma and non Hodgkin’s lymphomas. It is easy to see the difference of these two types of lymphoma under the inspection of a microscope. There are five different types of Hodgkin’s lymphomas and 30 types on non Hodgkin lymphoma. This classification is extremely complicated because there are many types of lymphoma. The non Hodgkin’s types are more common than the Hodgkin’s type. The non Hodgkin’s type is common in older people while the Hodgkin’s type is common in children.

This cancer is detected by the swelling of lymph nodes or tissues ...
... that are located in different areas of the body. One such example is the swelling of the spleen. This might cause discomfort and abdominal pain. Fevers, chills and unexplained weight loss might also be signs of the lymphoma. Early detection will lead to the effective treatment of the lymphoma. The problem with finding treatment for lymphoma is the fact that it has many small types that manifest in different ways. This cancer is also very popular amongst people. Lymphoma is the most popular type of blood cancer and it affects children more that it affects any other group of people. Treatment of lymphoma like any other cancer is standardized but it is crucial to seek the advice of several oncologists while undergoing treatment of lymphoma. Hematology board review course has a thorough explanation of the types of lymphoma and even how to avoid them.

Treatment of lymphoma is done depending on the stage and the type of lymphoma.. Other factors such as age, health and prior treatment of lymphoma is vital. The decision of the type of treatment that patient needs to pursue is determined by the doctor and his team if he has one. The patient is also consulted on what treatment of lymphoma to use. The hematology board review course explains the advantages and side effects of each treatment. It is crucial to look at all these options for treatment of lymphoma before choosing the one that is comfortable for the patient. It is essential to understand the whole process of the treatment of lymphoma and this can only happen when the patient gets the knowledge from hematology board review course. If detected early, this cancer can be treated. The most popular treatment of lymphoma is a combination of chemotherapy and radiotherapy. The other treatment for lymphoma is biological therapy which uses the bodys’ in built ability to fight cancer.

Therapy can result in remission of the lymphoma. Remission is not cure of the cancer because while in remission patient may still have the cancer cells but not the effects of the cells. Remission can last permanently or for a few months depending on the type of lymphoma and the stage. The cancer can also improve, stay stable, progress or be refractory after the therapy. When the cancer has improved it means that the tumor has reduced to almost half its size. When it is stable, it means that the tumor remained the same size after the treatment. If it is in progress it means that the tumor continued growing while a refractory disease means that the tumor is resistant. When the cancer re- occurs we say there is a recurrence. Once the cancer is in remission the doctor might choose to follow up the therapy with a different type of treatment for lymphoma to avoid recurrence.
