Pigs are one of the most common found animals around the world. They belong to the Suidae family of even-toed ungulates. Pigs are omnivore’s animals; they are highly social and intelligent animals. These animals are generally widespread animals. Most of its subspecies are native to the harshest climates of continental Eurasia and its islands. Some of them are from Africa as well. Pigs also originate from countries like India, Japan, Ireland, Siberia and other. Later it was introduced to countries like Australia, North and South America and many other islands. Also, there are different kinds of species of pigs including wild boar, bearded pigs and warty pigs. These typically adapted well, and are increasing in number and broadening their range outside human control.

While breeding pigs, it is advisable to select sows that are at least nine to ten months old as it is the ideal age for breeding. You can also buy boars which are at least eight months old. It is good to make them breed with less number of sows when they are young and as they grow older the numbers can be increased. However, one needs to be very careful while breeding sows. Hence it is always good to get them physically checked up before they are left to mate. This is very important because pigs are extremely infectious animals and this could be problematic for its litters as well.
