Maserati Granturismo Mc On The Podium For Robb Report 2012 Car Of The Year

The new Maserati GranTurismo MC is on the podium in the recent Robb Report’s 19th annual “Car of the Year”. Second only to the Lamborghini Aventador (with a MRSP of $387,000), the Maserati MC topped a significant list of competitors from across the industry including: Aston Martin VirageVolante, Bentley Continental GTC, Audi A7, Jaguar XKR-S, Mercedes Benz SLS AMG Roadster and CLS 63 AMG, BMW 650i Convertible, among others.
The most significant quote of the article is the following: “The MC might have topped the Aventador if bonus points were awarded for sales, because more judges expressed interest in purchasing this car than any other at the contest.”
The Maserati GranTurismo MC is a milder and more road-oriented version of the company’s track-ready models and can comfortably accommodate four passengers. Yet is also the most powerful and lightest of the current Maserati in production, the quickest from all the times. It is also the first road car in the Maserati fleet to break the 186 mph barrier. The GranTurismo MC’s 6-speed paddle-shifted gearbox is smooth; transmission is superb and provides ...
... a classy, sport and a great everyday drive. Everything in the Maserati GranTurismo MC reminds its authentic racing genes inherited from Maserati Corse, the Trident Racing Department.
As Robb Report quoted “the acclaim stirred by the GranTurismo MC underscored our judges’ appreciation for automobiles with attributes other than brute power or singularity of purpose. This car offers poise and balance. The front/mid-mounted V8’s positioning in the chassis makes the MC a handling delight, and the high-revving engine compensates for any lack of horsepower with immediate response”. Robert Ross from Robb Report then continues: “Essentially a GranTurismo S with stylish and aerodynamic accoutrements, this Maserati is a big GT that belies its bulk with a sporting but supple ride. The car’s size benefits the cabin, where rear passengers are rewarded with real seats – a novelty GT car. The MC’s stunning good looks seduced our judges, as did its exhaust note, which is as musical as it is unabashedly obstreperous, especially when the car is set in Sport mode.”
