Craps History Has Roots In Arabic Culture, Dating Back To 1100 Ad

Craps is quite easily one of the most fun, exciting yet simplest casino games available to play. The primary reason for this is that there is no need to memorize a certain skill set or strategies, because craps is based on luck of the roll of the dice. Although it is continually debated, Craps History is believed to have derived from an ancient game called Hazard. Hazard is believed to have been named after a castle named Hazarth, in which William of Tyre led his Crusaders in 1125 AD. It was later learned that this dice game actually originated from the Arabs, because the name "Hazard" derived from the Arabic phrase, "Al Zar", meaning "dice". It is believed that spread to Europe prior to the 12th century, as merchants began expanding trade to the continent. In the 17th century, Hazard grew increasingly popular, and has no European was unaware of the game, it was that renowned.
Everyone knew how to play it and often people gathered in taverns across England and play Hazard. It was also found in casinos and was a favorite of the nobility. The French also enjoyed the game of Hazard, but to differentiate it from the English, ...
... they called it craps. Craps is actually an instance in the game where the player will lose if he rolls a two. As the British and the French started settling in America, they also took with them the games that they love to play. Not surprisingly, Americans quickly embraced the game of craps, as most of them instantly enjoyed playing it once they learned how. Soon after, craps began to be introduced into casinos across America, and American, John H. Winn decided to take the game of craps and develop it further.
John H. Winn merely attempted to simplify the game of craps, to increase enjoyment of the game. People generally turned away from the game of craps, because of the complexity of the rules and the layouts. This encouraged Winn to make the game of craps more simple and modern. Initially, it was called the Philadelphia layout, and his efforts to change craps history forever did not go unnoticed. The famous dice maker John Scarne named Winn the Father of Modern Craps. It was because of Winn that craps has betting options available including Pass, Don't Pass, big 6 and 8. He also changed the betting rules so that the players were able to bet against the shooter as well.
By the 20th century, craps was world famous. During World War II, it was a favorite pastime of soldiers, and there are very few in the world who has not encountered the game of craps, particularly if they are a casino goer. In addition, movie producers often incorporate craps and storylines, keeping craps visible in the public eye. Although craps lost some of its popularity with slot machines became extremely popular in the 90s when online casinos were introduced, craps came back with a vengeance. You can now play craps online, as millions of players have downloaded software required and continue to play craps both in traditional casinos and online.
