Your Newborn Baby Checklist
Confused about what you should buy for your baby? Just tick off the items on our baby shopping list and you’ll have everything you need to see you through those first six weeks.
Shopping for your baby can be rather overwhelming - there is so much attractive baby equipment to choose from that making a decision on the items that would be most suitable for you and your lifestyle can be difficult.
You may find it helpful to talk to other mums about the more expensive products on the newborn baby checklist, such as the pram and a car seat, to find out what they recommend.
If you can, compare prices on some of the nursery equipment websites. Even if you decide to order online, it's a good idea to visit a nursery shop before you buy. Specialist stores have advisers who will be able to talk you through the benefits of different products on your newborn baby checklist and help you select the ones that are right for you.
If you are worried about being able to afford everything on your baby shopping list make ...
... a list of items you really need and try to buy items which double up, for example a cot that later turns into a toddler’s bed.
Then let people know what you need. You may find friends and neighbours are able to give or lend you their baby items, or that family and friends will join together to buy some of the bigger necessities for you.
And don’t be shy about asking friends, neighbours and relatives for outgrown toys or clothes that are in good condition.
