If finding cheap travel options are a priority, visiting popular tourist spots in their off season is the best way to find cheap airplane tickets, discount hotel rooms, and cheap vacation packages.

The following vacation spots offer affordable spring prices that travelers will love this spring, according to SmarterTravel:

• British Columbia in the spring is a time when flowers bloom; visitors enjoy late season skiing and great values. Vancouver’s cheapest prices go through May, while prices often do not increase elsewhere in British Columbia until late June.

Vancouver spring specials include a citywide 3rd night free offer from participating hotels that is good through April 30th. Advanced purchased lift ticket rates fall by 30 percent or more for British Columbia’s ski slopes, making late season skiing a real bargain.

Grand openings and reopenings of a number of museums makes this spring destination even more attractive. Virgin America is starting service from Los Angeles and San Francisco in May, making travel to the East all the easier.

• Costa Rica’s off season commences in May. If you wait until then you are likely to run into more rain, but the tropical showers are usually limited to afternoons or evenings. By visiting during Costa Rica’s “green season” (May or June) landscapes are more vibrant and the crowds smaller. Prices on airline tickets drop around 15 percent between April and May, with hotel prices often 20 percent cheaper.
