As a young girl, I was never pressurized by my mom to finish the chores of the house. Being the only daughter, I used to spend a major chunk of my time reading. Mom and Dad spent a major part of their time working. I was left alone and there was nothing to do all day. That was when I resorted to reading. I used to sit in the attic and read a whole lot of books munching on my favorite raspberry tart. My mom never used to yell at me for throwing away my hat and shoes everywhere in the house. I fondly recall those days.
Now when I am old enough to maintain my own house, I realize how tough it can be for working mothers to make sure everything is neat and spotlessly clean. It is especially tough when you have children at home. They don’t realize the importance of cleanliness and it’s not fair to reprimand them for it. At the same time, there is nothing better than returning back home from work or any outdoor activity and finding your home very clean and inviting. Here are some tips that might come handy if you are also like me. It is of prime importance to make it a point to clean your house regularly. There may be times when you have vessels piled up on your sink and pizza covers scattered all over the dining table. During such times it’s better not to procrastinate. Learn to finish the job as and when it accumulates. This way you can get rid of your work and stay at ease for the rest of the day. There is a natural tendency that if you don’t do that job immediately, then you will probably never feel like doing it at all.
Kitchen and bathroom are the two most important places in your house that require good sanitation and cleanliness. So, make it a point to clean them regularly. There is nothing wrong in going for a helper if you are a working professional or a new mom. Do not hesitate to ask for help. As and when you buy new things, make it a point to clear off the junk or waste items in the house as well. Make sure that there is a perfect place for every utensil in your house. That way, it becomes easier to store things and find them when we are in need of them. Another thing is don’t hesitate to ask for help from your family members. Train them to help you in doing small house hold chores. For instance your husband can assist you in making the bed while your toddlers can be trained to keep their old toys in their places before taking out a new toy.
There is also no need to be obsessive about every detail in your house. There may be times when you have guests and relatives at home for a get together or a party. During such times, the house may not be so clean and it is better to accept the situation and live with it.
