Prague Nightlife Offers Something For Everyone
The Prague nightlife is justifiably famous. From trendy nightclubs and friendly pubs to gourmet restaurants and roving street musicians, Prague comes alive after nightfall. It's why this city has become a tourist Mecca for young adults.
The nightlife in Prague is not on the same level as one might find in Paris or London, but it does have its share of pomp and circumstance.
Clubbing
Clubbing in Prague has a flavor of its own. In many places, it makes no difference what you wear as there is no strict dress code. The Lucerna music bar, for example, is frequented by a relaxed local crowd with a fondness for music from the 80s and 90s. The dress code is casual and the locals are warm, friendly, and enthusiastic.
Off the beaten track from the regular discos are the jazz and blues bars. These are generally small venues that make up for their limited proportions with appropriate décor and great music.
The heart of Prague nightlife centers around the city's many bars and nightclubs. Tourists can visit everything from a smoky neighborhood pub to an upscale nightclub complete with bouncers ...
... at the door and beautiful men and women moving on the dance floor inside.
This isn't surprising. Prague has long been known as a city in which people like to have fun. This explains why the capital city of Czech regularly ranks as the leading city for per capita beer consumption.
Solidni Nejistota
Solidni Nejistota is one of the trendiest nightspots in Prague. This is despite the many complaints it receives from visitors about overly aggressive bouncers and dismal service from the wait staff. In fact, this nightclub is packed most every night, with both tourists and natives. The locals know it as a place that you either love or hate. But if you're looking for the epicenter of cool in Prague, Solidni Nejistota is a must visit.
If you're looking for the opposite end of the Prague Holidays or nightlife, you might visit Velryba. This local pub is a hangout for students, artists and anyone else interested in good but inexpensive food and drinks. This pub is a great way to meet some locals. There's even a small art gallery in the back that showcases the work of local artists.
Bugsy's often attracts an older crowd. That's because this bar has a reputation for serving the city's best cocktails. It also has a reputation for high prices and a New York City-style vibe. It's a good place to catch a glimpse of Prague's new wealth as they blow their hard-earned dollars on pricey cocktails.
The M1 Secret Lounge remains one of the trendiest bars in Prague. Here you'll find models and movie stars sipping drinks and gossiping. While the Lounge is packed on the weekends, it's also fairly crowded during the week. This is largely because it remains one of the best hotspots in Prague that stays open until the earliest hours of the morning during the workweek.
Finally, if you have an artistic nature, you might want to visit Zlateho tygra. This friendly pub has served drinks to some of the Czech Republic's most famous writers, including Bohumil Hrabal. It's a great place to slip into if you need some inspiration. The bar boats a bit of history, too. Bill Clinton and Vaclav Havel have drunk together here. The Zlateho tygra is a lesser known but still important part of the Prague nightlife.
If you're looking for some evening excitement, the Prague nightlife has it for you. Be willing to explore this city's downtown streets, and you'll find a nightclub or bar that is perfect for you.
