Living in sunny California means you can enjoy your tan all year round yet there's a downside to this – being at risk for skin cancer.

You might have heard of a skin cancer body check in Los Angeles in the past but if you're unfamiliar with this term, this simply means visiting your dermatologist and having your entire body inspected for suspicious growths, lesions or moles with the use of bright light. There are times when the skin doctor would even use magnifying lens to take a closer look. Even the scalp is carefully inspected during this procedure.

Do You Need Body Check or Not?
You should have your skin examined if you see any suspicious lesions or moles. You might also be aware of some symptoms that point to skin cancer. If your parents or any relative has suffered from skin cancer, this puts you at a high risk, too. When it comes to moles, seeing 50 or more of them or finding excessively huge ones should also be a reason to go to the dermatologist.

Early Skin Cancer Detection

Take note that the earliest signs of skin cancer are abnormal growths or irritations on your complexion. So ...
... a wart, mole or sore can be symptoms of early melanoma. Females aged 15-29 are at risk due to their tanning behaviors.

The key is to go to your most trusted dermatologist in case you find any change in your mole or if a new mole suddenly sprouted.
Remember the ABCDE Rule

To detect early signs of melanoma, you can follow these :
A. is for Asymmetry – one half isn't like the other half.
B. is for Border – any irregular border is a cause for alarm.
C. is for Color – varies from shades of brown, tan, black, red, blue or even white.
D. is for Diameter – often greater than 6mm.
E. is for Evolving – mole or lesion can change in shape, size and color.

It's advisable for people in sunny areas such as Santa Monica, Beverly Hills and Pacific Palisades to have their skin checked every month especially when your family medical history points to skin cancer as a cause of mortality.

Go to nearby Los Angeles and visit the city that is lined with the best dermatologists in the country; an example of which are the doctors of UCLA Dermatology and skin experts like Mary Lee American and George Anterasian. Los Angeles skin cancer body checks can be found at dermatology centers in the city.
