An increasing number of people are getting interested in a career in art without ever actually being much of an artist, and with graphic design schools, it is very possible to pull it off. You don't have to be an expert painter or someone who is constantly working on a new sculpture or sketching out amazing portraits to be an artist; all you need is a set of finely tuned skills that you can put to work when you create new projects. You may have just considered art school for the career possibilities, or because you have a passion for creation but lack the necessary skills, and either way, working to get a design degree will grant you exactly what you need.

Before you decide to enroll yourself into a nearby school, you might want to consider the styles of art that interest you the most and how those styles would actually apply in the job market. If you enjoy making arts and crafts, you may not find much to do in the way of a full blown career, but if you are really interested in making some great looking, trendy clothing, you could certainly make your way into the fashion industry.

In the world of graphic ...
... arts, almost any art style that you are at least somewhat interested in can be developed into a career level ability that will have you working the kind of job you've always wanted, like going from sketching futuristic cars to actually doing concept designs for a living. You may enjoy doodling little cartoon characters while you are just sitting around, and those doodles could end up becoming your ticket to a career in sequential art, animation, or even elaborate logo design.

You could fall under the category with many others who don't really identify with one art form or another and are just hoping to make a place in one of the many interesting industries surrounding graphic art. And just because you are not already handy with a sketch pencil or a paintbrush or a great piece of software, there's no reason that the school you choose to attend won't be able to help you.

Don't let a lack of skill and talent talk you out of working towards the career of your dreams, because the school you choose will teach you everything. So instead of worrying over your lack of ability, start searching for some good graphic design schools that can teach you the abilities you need and help you jumpstart a new creative career.
