What is HTML 5?

HTML5 is a language for structuring and presenting content for the World Wide Web. Intended to subsume not only HTML 4, but XHTML 1 and DOM2HTML (particularly JavaScript) as well. HTML5 is still under development, completion is in 2022. The Web is getting richer, the platform is getting better, and we're seeing this from DHTML to HTML to XHTML to HTML5.

The web standards are open, reliable, highly secure, and efficient. They allow web designers and developers to create advanced graphics, typography, animations, and transitions. They are the web. Giving more flexibility and interoperability, and enable more interactive. HTML 5 introduces and enhances a wide range of features including form controls, APIs, multimedia, structure, and semantics.

The advantage of defining HTML 5 in terms of the DOM is defined independently of the syntax. There are two syntaxes that can be used to represent HTML documents: the HTML serialisation (known as HTML 5) and the XML serialisation (known as XHTML 5).
