Creedmoor Psychiatric Center is a leading adult psychiatric center under the sponsorship of the New York State Office Of Mental Health. It provides a wide range of outpatient, inpatient and other psychiatric services, with 5 outpatient sites in the borough of Queens and inpatient hospitalization at the main campus. The psychiatric center is well known for its commitment to providing optimum care, regardless of one’s race, gender, ethnicity, religion and the ability to pay. It focuses on providing high quality mental health services to all persons in Queens County, 18 years of age or older.

The goal of Creedmoor Psychiatric Center is to promote self help and empowerment in achieving goals related to learning, living, working and socializing through age appropriate, culturally competent and evidence-based treatment. It serves nearly 420 inpatients. Creedmoor serves nearly 1,700 outpatients at its several community clinics, each covering a particular geographic area.

The Intensive Treatment Unit, an inpatient unit at Creedmoor that offers quality care to patients presenting difficult clinical issues, is a resident staffed unit. The Intensive Treatment Unit served as one of the pilot sites for the development of the New York State Office of Mental Health’s PSYCKES project, a computer data base containing past prescribing information on all inpatients in the OMH system. Members of the PSYCKES team, including Kaj Neve, were recognized in 2004 with the Governor’s Workforce Champion Award.

Kaj Neve serves as Chief Psychiatrist on the Intensive Training Unit, of the Residency Education and Training Program in Psychiatry, at Creedmoor Psychiatric Center. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center, College of Medicine, Omaha. Kaj Neve has received various awards throughout his career.
