Know Your Diamond Better Through Certification
We all love to wear diamond jewelry on important occasions. Women wear them to enhance their beauty. Men wear them as a good luck sign, but do you know that the diamond, which you are wearing, is millions of years old. This gem piece has seen different ages from the age of dinosaurs to present age. It has witnessed the natural transformations billions of years ago.
A diamond is nothing but an isotope of carbon, the carbon that forms the coal, and the carbon that is so black that you can never accept that it is the same material which forms diamond. But it is true. The gem is pure carbon but during billions of years of its construction, it is crystallized deep inside the earth to adopt the present form. Before coming to our hand, it passes through different crusts of earth to gain its shape. Still when it comes out from the mines, it is in raw shape. In first look you can't recognize that it is the same gem, which you wear. It is cut, it is finished, and then it is polished before being sent to showrooms for sale.
The story of diamond is very interesting. First the carbon is deep buried in earth under very high ...
... temperature and pressure. These are formed inside the mantle of earth and then they are transported to upper layers buried in the volcanic magma. The high temperature and pressure solidifies them in a crystalline structure. When this is taken out from the mines, it is covered by the carbon. After cleaning, it is sent for further processing. It is then carefully cut, finished and then polished.
Diamonds have no human efforts in the formation process. In industries, they are only finished and polished. Therefore it becomes difficult to recognize their purity through simple means. To ascertain the quality of it, it is necessary to pass them through the same stringent norms. Gem appraisers do this work for you. They test the gem piece on various parameters and give it a diamond certificate.
Gemologists sell you the original diamond pieces with these certifications. Certification is the guarantee of purity of gem piece. It tells which quality is the diamond that you are purchasing. All diamonds are not same. They have different impurity contents. The quality of diamond is decided on the impurity content, its cut, its color and its clarity.
ABCGlab.org tests the raw diamond pieces on stringent norms by gemologists and gives them a diamond certificate of purity. This purity certificate is well recognized all over the world.
