Dalhousie is a beautiful hill station in Himachal Pradesh established in 1854 by the British Empire. It was named after the British Viceroy Lord Dalhousie. It was meant for the summer retreat for the British troops and bureaucrats. It is built in and around the five hills, located on the western edge of the Dhauladhar mountain ranges of the Himalayas. It is surrounded by the beautiful snow-capped mountain. Scottish and the Victorian architecture are very much prevalent in the bungalows and the churches in the town. Dalhousie is known as a gate way to the hill station.
Dalhousie with its beautiful mountain and thick forest of deodar trees attract many tourists from near and far. Tourism in this place is soul refreshing because it is the quietest hill station in India. Tourism here is very calm and quiet and one can enjoy the nature in a relaxed manner. During winter Dalhousie experiences a very heavy snow fall leaving the tourists with everlasting fun. Tourism here is at its peak during winters. Himachal Pradesh is one of the most exciting place to visit for vacation. Shimla is the capital of the Himachal Pradesh. The town is spread over the ridge measuring of the 12 km and it is perhaps the biggest hill station of the world, it is the tourist resort in the real sense of the world. The scenic beauty of the Kullu- Manali can be best enjoyed on a bus or a taxi. The nearest railhead is that of the Joginder Nagar and this narrow gauge railway station is 95km away from Kullu. At the Manali bus stand there are two booths where computerized reservation is done. The reservation can be done one month in advance. There are lots of places to stay in Manali; Hotels like Hotel Tourists, Sunshine guest house are famous in Manali. Water Rafting is also done in Manali for adventurous purpose. Mountaineering institute is also a source attraction for the tourists to travel to Manali. It is a very ideal place for nature lovers, explorers, history lovers.
