Dental aesthetics and appearance has always been of social importance, people who have lost their natural teeth due to accidents or other unforeseeable situations are very troubled by the way they look, being able to socialize without normal looking teeth can prove to be quite challenging. Before implants were developed people who had lost their original teeth were only able to use dentures in order to repair their smile.

In recent years the use of implants has become more and more popular, implants are put in place after several visits to the cosmetic dentist in those patients who qualifie for implants must have a strong immune system and good bone density. Implants are usually put in place where the natural tooth used to be, it is anchored to the jawbone or to the metal which has been put in place in order to hold such implant, this metal acts as a perfect foundation for an artificial tooth or a bridge and can even be used to attach a denture.

There are several types of implants, some of them are:

Single tooth replacement
Full lower replacement
Posterior replacement
Full upper replacement
...
... Anterior replacement

In most cases to set up missing teeth are replaced with implants, after they have been replaced dentists allow a healing period, this could be a couple of months all the way to six months in order for the gum to strengthen and four to implants to hold firmly in place, if extensions are needed to implants are uncovered and additional parts are attached in addition, replacement teeth are mounted over the implants and expansions.

Again, not everyone is fitted for this procedure as they need to meet the requirements which have been previously mentioned, those being a strong immune system in good bone density in order for the implants to hold strongly in place, patients who have gone through this procedure have experience at high rate of success, which means that they are now able to socialize without worrying about their oral aesthetics.
