How To Turn Your House Into A Home
Moving to a new house is such an exciting time, you need to get your furniture in, design the home to match your personality, maybe give it a lick of paint to make it yourself and find some great rugs for sale to complete your décor.
When you first move into a house it’s just that, a house. Making it a home comes with time, furnishings, ornaments and memorabilia. You want it to be the haven where you feel comfortable and safe. You don’t want an uncomfortable sofa because it looks good, leaving you uncomfortable in your own home.
A Home is What You Make It
A home is what you make of it, whether you’re moving to a modern home or a traditional cottage, putting your stamp on it is what will make it a home.
Adding a splash of colour to some of the rooms can make a huge difference if the walls are all white or magnolia. I’m always amazed at how everyone chooses magnolia for the walls, yes it adds a little bit of warmth, but is it right for you?
Add some colour to the walls, make it your own. Your bathroom will look fantastic with a splash of light green, while bedrooms can look wonderful ...
... with warm colours and living areas will benefit from dark rich colours.
Then it’s the carpets. If you’ve moved to a house which has brand new carpets throughout in a light colour, this isn’t a practical solution if you have young children and pets that are going to be in and out constantly. Finding some warm coloured rugs for sale which you can drop over the carpeting will not only add warmth, but will help keep the carpets clean, especially in high traffic areas.
What I found once I’d placed my furniture in my new home was that the room looked bland; the white units with the beige sofa and light carpets were insipid and didn’t give me the homely feel I wanted. I did a search for rugs for sale and found a beautiful plush red carpet which I’ve placed in the centre of the living room and it’s made the world of difference.
Add Some Art
Adding some art to the walls also makes it cosier; choose the pictures according to your colour scheme and furniture. I found a painting of a red flower, a little on the abstract side which matched the beautiful rug I purchased, adding colour to the walls made such a difference.
The great thing is you can find rugs for sale at affordable prices; you don’t have to spend a fortune to turn your house into a home. Remember it’s a reflection of your personality as well as making it comfortable so finding rugs for sale in colours that add warmth to the home can make all the difference in the world.
