There are so many different engine packages and cooling system requirements out there these days that simply grabbing a Freightliner radiator from the nearest junk yard or U Pull It, and slapping it in where your Volvo truck radiator was before it blew up just isn’t an option. Whether you need to replace your Freightliner radiator in a hurry, or you’re doing a total rebuild for your own enjoyment, you need to make sure you have the Original Equipment Manufacturer’s (OEM) part number so you can determine the correct truck radiator, metal radiator, charge air cooler, or heavy duty truck part for your application. Many online retailers and suppliers of Volvo truck radiators, Freightliner radiators, and other major parts have site specific search boxes you can use by entering in an OEM number, part number or dealer number. This makes finding the right part quick and efficient, so you can get back to what you really need to do: fix that rig!

On most parts you will find a number of some sorts; usually tucked away in some inconvenient place where you’ll need a flashlight, a dolly, or a mining helmet ...
... unless you pull out the old radiator first. Sometimes, though, you get lucky, and the original equipment manufacturer’s part number is plastered right on the top of it (this should actually be the case with all replaceable parts). Try entering the number into the search box on the site you’re using to order the part, or at least have it handy if you are calling a shop and placing the order. This will make searching for and locating a Volvo truck radiator or a Freightliner radiator much easier. You can just place the order, and move on to the next thing while you wait for it to arrive. Some numbers are just bound not be found in databases for online retailers, but don’t panic, you can always call them with any number and they will help locate it for you.

There are a lot of suppliers out there, and any place that specializes in radiators is most likely going to have a good stock of common types like Volvo truck radiators and Freightliner radiators. When you search with the original equipment manufacturer’s number, you can be assured you’re ordering the correct part for your equipment and you will receive the correct part. The original equipment manufacturer’s part number is almost like a serial number, but with one major difference. Rather than a successive number being stamped on each part as they come off the assembly line, the original equipment manufacturer’s part number is a string of numbers associated with one specific type of part. In other words, if you have a Freightliner built in 1991, the OEM for that Freightliner radiator is going to be different than one built in 1999, but it will be the same for all Freightliner radiators built in 1991. So as long as you have that OEM, you’ll be just fine, and you can rest easy knowing you’ve got the right part coming.
