Whether you are an expert driver or having first driving stint, whether you have enough expertise with your vehicle or you are still exploring it, the fact is that at some or the other point of life; you will most likely face an accident. It might be a simple knock out at the parking lot or a serious one. Anyhow, if the accident has happened, damages have occurred and you or your family has sustained injuries because of someone else’s recklessness, then you have the legal right to file a car accident compensation claim.

Many times the victims of any kind of accident do not know how to react after the incident and because they do not follow all the phases and procedures carefully, their insurance company or the faulty party declines and snub the claim, or pay minimal compensation. Moreover, if after the mishap you don’t follow the lawful actions, then you might also have to pay heavy fines. Thus, to get your due and also to avoid unnecessary legal hassles, understand and realize the steps that will be useful when you lodge complain or file an accident claim.

The first thing that should be done is that the car ...
... should be stopped immediately, whether the mishap is minor or major. According to the law, the drivers involved in the accident should immediately stop their vehicles. This not only avoids legal hassles, but also averts the chances of additional injuries. Immediately, confirm if any of the co passengers is wounded or hurt. If there is someone who is injured, then do not move, until and unless the injured has been attended at least with first aid.

Immediately call the police and also inform the traffic authorities. Make sure that you do not move from the accident spot, until the police have arrived. Also, refrain from discussing any accident details with anyone, but police. Neither admit, nor deny your fault, as whatever you say might be used against you during the settlement or trail of your allege.

If you are not too severely injured and if the circumstances and the situation allows, try taking the details and contact details of passengers, witnesses and other driver. Also try to have details about the license and registration number of the other driver and the vehicle involved. This will make your claim stronger as you will have all details of those involved. Visit the doctor and take the necessary treatment along with all medical reports.

Along with this also make sure that you inform your insurance company as soon as possible. This should be done at the earliest as there are chances that the driver of the other vehicle might have already filed a complain stating your fault.

Following these straightforward steps will ensure that you not only have a strong car accident claim, but also ensure that no one has to put up with a redundant blame and the plaintiff will also be awarded the rightful compensation.
