Abaxis Piccolo Xpress - A Convenient And Compact Clinical Chemistry System

A portable, convenient and compact clinical chemistry system, the delivers accurate results in a few minutes. This point-of-care analyzer allows health care providers to make better-informed decisions to enhance patient care, save time, and improve efficiency and billable hours.
Quick and Accurate Results
The Piccolo Xpress™ analyzer is compact – roughly the size of a shoe box. It features a comprehensive menu of CLIA-waived, self-contained, single-use reagent panels which includes metabolic, lipids, liver, kidney, electrolyte and glucose monitoring. The Piccolo offers easy-to-follow touch screen commands to carry out routine multi-chemistry panels. It is specially designed to offer quick and accurate results for routine blood testing in just three simple steps:
• Add 0.1 cc of whole blood sample, serum or plasma to the patented 8-cm diameter single use plastic disc containing the liquid diluent and dry reagents.
• Insert disc in the analyzer drawer. Centrifugal and capillary forces work to mix the reagents and sample in the disc.
• Read results which are ready in approximately 12 ...
... minutes.
This is a vast improvement over the traditional system which involves a long and delayed procedure - blood sample collection, waiting for the proper blood clot to form, spinning the sample, labeling and packaging the transport tube, waiting up to four days for the results and finally reviewing the chart to interpret the lab test results.
Many Unique Advantages
The Piccolo Xpress™ is a unique on-site analyzer offering many advantages. It uses nine wavelengths to monitor the reagent reactions simultaneously, calculates the results from the absorbance information and reports the results.
• Highest quality and accuracy: This piece of lab equipment self-calibrates with each run and its on-board continuous intelligent Quality Control (iQCT) monitors the analyzer, reagent reactions and sample to ensure high quality, accurate results.
• Delivers vital records at point of care: The system delivers a hard copy report on sticky-backed thermal roll-tape that is ideal for the patient file, ensuring crucial information at the point of care.
• Easy to operate: No special training is required to operate the system.
• Low maintenance: This economical system is virtually maintenance free.
