Trekking Through Beauty

Get lost in the immense beauty of Sri Lanka’s Horton Plains, as the sheer wonder of the scenery immediately takes over and you truly feel as though you have been allowed into a place untouched by humans. Enjoy a Sri Lanka adventure that takes you trekking through wild plains, and rain forests along a path, that is quite a work out. It is well worth the one and a half to two hour trek that ends in a breathtaking sheer drop, aptly referred to as World’s End.
Situated in Sri Lanka’s up country region, the Horton Plains enjoy a cool climate which is why the surrounding vegetation is lush with the countryside showing varying shades of the greenest greens. The forest that acts as the boundary to the trek is home to wildlife which is why you feel an instant respect for nature and find that you immediately respect the serenity of the place and act accordingly. For the novice the trek may seem strenuous but for the avid trekker this walk will not over tire you and allow you to take time to appreciate natural beauty. While it may not be the most strenuous of treks it has its far share of areas that do put you through your ...
... paces.
It is best to start your trek early so as to avoid the mist that starts to settle towards mid to late afternoon. It is an amazing experience to find you are being gently shrouded by the mystical mist, but on a practical level it blocks your view of the sheer drop. So make sure to set off early and enjoy all the experiences Horton Plains has to offer and walk back in the silence of the slowly descending mist. In order to preserve the pristine quality of the place, you are not allowed to take in plastic bags and such pollutants, which is understandable.
Make sure to take time on your hike, stopping to take in the cool exquisiteness of the view, breath in the pure air, feel all your senses tingle. You will be able to, if lucky, see wild samba, monkeys and signs of leopards. Once you have experienced World’s End you can continue on to see Baker’s Falls which is one of those renowned Sri Lankan waterfalls. The entire trek to and back will take about five hours, depending upon your capabilities.
The Horton Plains offer a Sri Lanka adventure that is more of enjoying nature in all its gorgeousness than just an adrenaline rush and is just one of the many adventures in Sri Lanka that is more of enjoying nature in all its gorgeousness than just an adrenaline rush and is just one of the many.
