Everyone knows the ill effects of smoking, but still there is a large amount of smokers around us. The uncontrollable urge to overcome the feeling of having the cigarette touching your mouth; the ecstatic feeling of inhaling the tobacco have made people slave to this harmful disease-contributor.

It could still amaze you that even with all the health warning issued, people still smoke. Many doctors and physicians try to force their patients to quit smoking, but it ends up on a deaf ear. Seriously, smoking not only destroys your life, but also the life of the people around you. It is not that people don’t want to quit smoking, some are not trying enough. Having a clear cut mind and determination is what one needs to overcome the urge and need to smoke.

One thing is sure, it is difficult for people who don’t smoke and are not addicted to smoking to tell how it feels to have a smoke and the uncontrollable mental stress that occurs while giving up the cigarette. You will be amazed to know that a cigarette has about eight to ten milligrams of nicotine. Out of this, only one to two milligrams are inhaled. This nicotine when inhaled activates the cholinergic neurons that give the same rush as endorphins. These endorphins go to our brain and create the impulsive attraction to cigarettes. Seriously, it does amaze you that a small quantity of nicotine could damage your body.

It is a known fact that smoking gives you uncountable diseases like lung cancer, strokes, heart attacks, etc. You could also get gum diseases and bleeding which could ultimately lead to throat cancer and to an extent falling of your teeth. Not only that it could lead to pneumonia, vascular diseases and to some extend reproductive effects. Yes it naturally affects the childbearing ability for both men and women. People who are chain smokers have a failed family life. They end by being poignant and suicide prone.
