Travel Options In St John’s Wood
At the north-west corner of Regent’s Park in the City of Westminster, you’ll find a district called ‘St John’s Wood’. This is not to be confused with ‘St John’s Wort’, which is in fact a mood enhancing herbal treatment! The area was one of the first London suburbs to be majorly developed, with some areas now very densely populated; despite this, it still remains one of the most desirable places to live in across London and the rest of the United Kingdom.
There are several things that attract people to this district, creating a good business for St John’s Wood taxis throughout the year. One of them is that it’s home to Lord’s Cricket Ground - otherwise known as the “home of cricket” (it’s the sport’s original headquarters). The ground is owned by Marylebone Cricket Club, and also has the world’s oldest sporting museum on location. It’s no surprise that cricket fans come from far and wide to set foot in these prestigious grounds, or even better, to watch a match! The most devoted fans dream of living nearby, but property prices here are amongst the highest in the world. Unfortunately, the ...
... beautiful townhouses here are beyond most people’s budgets! The only consolation is that the price of a taxi in St John’s wood is still affordable for the average Joe, especially when booked online.
Another huge attraction to the area is Abbey Road Studios, where legendary British band ‘The Beatles’ recorded the synonymous album ‘Abbey Road’. It sold well over 3 million copies in its first week of release, making it a record-breaking best selling LP of all time. The photo used for the front cover has become iconic, featuring the four band members walking over a zebra crossing on Abbey Road itself. If you go there at the weekend, you’re likely to see tourists recreating that famous scene - much to the dismay of St John’s Wood taxis who need to pass by! Just like the zealous cricket fans, devotees of The Beatles covet properties in this district; it is still home to Sir Paul McCartney, along with many other celebrities.
Regent’s Park is not the only beautiful neighbouring area; St John’s Wood also has Primrose Hill, Belsize Park and Hampstead on its doorstep. Each one of these areas is just as affluent and sought after, making up a part of London that people dream of living in. It’s no wonder that so many of the country’s rich and famous reside here; the West side of London shows no signs of falling out of favour in the near future!
