The overwhelming choice of food products sold within pet stores and supermarkets can be overpowering for first time pet owners who wish to give their animal or reptile the most appropriate nutrients and vitamins required to prolong life expectancy. Although certain foods are given to pets as an additional treat or as part of their daily eating plan, some product contain dangerous chemicals that can be harmful to the overall health of an animal or reptile which can prove fatal. Dogs particularly fall within this category as their owners may provide leftover food or cooked meats which, although provide a source of food, can be detrimental in the long term. Sourcing the best dog food on the market is therefore essential to a dog’s health throughout its life span – from puppies to an adult canine.

Pet stores, supermarkets and specialist vetinary nutritionists provide a significant number of dog food products that are scientifically tested to give dogs of all ages a healthy diet required to improve body and bone strength, muscle growth and quality of skin and coat. Such food is available in wet and dry varieties which ...
... both have their nutritional benefits, but have subtle differences within a healthy diet plan. First and foremost, the most evident differences are the contrasting consistency and packaging; dry dog food are traditionally small bite-size treats that are packaged within durable bags, whereas wet food comes available in brine and other flavoursome liquids in a meat and jelly mixture within a tin.

Due to its consistency, dry food is more beneficial within the improvement of jaw strength and teeth sharpness which satisfies a dog’s natural instinct to chew. Most modern forms of bags used to contain dog food come with re-sealable devices to ensure that once a bag is opened, the food retains its true quality thus providing an economical source of dog nutrition. In contrast, wet dog food contains increased levels of protein, vitamins and moisture which is packed full of flavours that dogs may find more appetising. Its soft consistency allows dogs of all ages and conditions to chew and enjoy the qualities of tinned wet food. Although dry and wet dog food has its differences, finding a balance between the two is important towards providing a dog with a healthy diet required to strengthen and improve their body.
