It can be awfully confusing trying to pick one of the numerous BT broadband packages that are currently available. Which one should you opt for? The most important factor you should consider before looking at, download speeds and prices is how often you actually use the internet and what you use it for. If you’re a casual user who logs on once a day or every couple of days to flick through the news and check your emails, you won’t need a particularly advanced deal. If you’re a heavy user who logs on constantly to watch online TV, download music and play games, you will need a deal which gives you a lot more online freedom.

Once you have worked out what type of user you are, you will need to look at the data usage limits of the different BT Broadband Packages and use them to make your decision. The Broadband and Evening and Weekend Calls and Broadband and Anytime Calls deals both include 10GB of monthly data usage, which is what light users should be looking at. Even though it doesn’t sound like a lot, 10GB is still enough ...
... to download 2500 songs or 15 films every month. If it still doesn’t sound like enough, the More Broadband and Evening and Weekend Calls deal offers 40GB of data per month, which is enough to download 10,200 songs or 59 films every month, which would be ideal for heavy users. If you just want to go the whole hog and get as much as you possibly can, choose the Unlimited Broadband and Evening and Weekend Calls deal, which gives you an unlimited amount of data downloads every month.

This method is also equally applicable to businesses - simply work out how much you rely on the internet to achieve your goals and keep your customers happy, and then use that to choose a BT Business Broadband deal.

The other factors are basically irrelevant - you will still get fast download speeds regardless of the deal you eventually plump for and all the deals incorporate free calls at certain times, as well as free connection if needed, which saves you £130. There are deals which are almost identical but offer 100MB BT Infinity broadband, but unless you are badly in need of ridiculously fast internet, don’t worry about them. Once you know what your data usage is likely to be, you will be able to choose the best and most cost-effective BT broadband package for your household or business.
