Lemon, a native fruit of Asia, is a spheroidal yellow fruit that grows in small evergreen trees. The juice of lemon is prevalently served as fruit juice in many homes. It is also used for cooking and baking purposes. Known as a citrus fruit, lemon contains about 5% to 6% of citric acid in it. And, the citric acid content is said to be the chief reason for the sour taste of lemon. However, it is this sour taste of the juice that makes lemon an important element in homes all over the world. Lemon is highly antibacterial and antiseptic in nature. It is among the most natural fruits that can do wonders for the health. Lemon is loaded with vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and calcium and serves a multitude of benefits.

If you suffer from cold, all you need is a glass of lemon juice to feel the difference. Lemon-honey juice will strengthen the immune system and help you recover faster. If you have any dizzy symptoms from alcohol drinking, lick the fleshy part of raw lemon and you will lose the dizziness in a few minutes! Lemon is also very effective in treating insect bites and itching caused by the poisonous plants such as the ivy plant. Squeeze little quantity of lemon juice directly on the affected skin area and allow it to stay on the skin for some time. Lemon being a natural antibiotic itself helps to get rid of the irritation caused by the ivy plant and the swelling caused due to the insect bite.

Moreover, lemon is rich in pectin and Vitamin C that can lower the level of cholesterol. Plus, lemon when taken along with the stem of banana can aid in the prevention of kidney stones and other bladder related issues.
Apart from serving a multitude of health benefits, lemon can be used as a cleansing agent to clean our household items. The citric content of lemon helps to get rid of the clogged dirt, kill bacteria, and keep things clean and shiny. This is one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get back the shine on the old household items. You can clean all the greasy things in the kitchen with lemon juice and hot water. Lemon can be a great detergent agent to get rid of the dirt on the kitchen cupboard, microwave oven, windows, chopping board, piano keys, computer keyboard etc.
Lemon can also make a worthy homemade gift. There are so many gifts like lemon scented candles, lemon scented soap, Stationary or cards with lemon prints, etc.
