Some more popular water sporting event in the backwaters are Payippad Jalotsavam, Champakulam Moolam Boat Race, Kumarakom Boat Race and Indira Gandhi Boat Race. The winners of the boat race are given a trophy and the Nehru tyrophy is the most prestigious one.
