Marsha Kent – Driven By Growth Backed By People
When Marsha Kent started Kent Television Marketing in the late 80’s, the Direct Response television industry was just making its appearance. In this kind of marketing, the consumer is required to directly call a toll-free number, or visit a web site. This usually results in the product being bought. Marsha Kent introduced the Miracle Blade I, a set of multi-purpose knives through what is called an Infomercial, a sort of television commercial that talks about the benefits of the product in question, in detailed pictures and analysis. When Miracle Blade became a rage across America, it was realized that the Infomercial was a brilliant idea, whose time had come.
Marsha Kent is one of America’s most successful women entrepreneurs, and has accumulated an impressive treasure-chest of experience in the marketing industry, after years of working in the areas of product marketing, advertising and sales. In the early 1990s, she joined forces with Mr Peter Speigel to from Kent & Spiegel Direct Inc. When two such creative minds get together, the result is usually all fire and sparkle. The duo of Kent and Spiegel went on to ...
... become such a rage, with products moving off the shelves with such speed and alacrity that a whole new universe was laid on the ramparts of the Direct Response Television Industry. Infomercials for the purpose of selling Personal Fitness systems became very popular. Fitness equipments like the AB Coach, the Abflex Fitness System, the Bun & Thigh Sculptor, Micro Buddy and others became hits within weeks of their being advertised on the Infomercials. One of the products that entered the Top Ten on the Jordan Whitney Report within one week of its launch was the Ab Coach. Another successful venture was Microcrisp Food Wrap, which has clocked more than 55$ million in sales, since its launch in 1993.
Marsha Kent attributes her success to the excellent support and co-operation that she received from all the team-members of her enterprise. “ We are all team players”, she says with a smile. “Each of our team partners understands his or her place in the overall functioning mechanism, and carry out roles accordingly”, she adds. “My team is my strength, if I am passionate about my products, I am equally gung-ho about the capabilities of my people”, this realistically down-to-earth market leader states. “You are nothing without a strong human pool of human resource to back you. Each time, and every time!” Marsha Kent affirms, with a grin.
