The main idea behind gifting your dear ones with presents on the propitious occasion of Diwali is to wish them good luck for their future and display your love and affection for them. People residing away from home can now send a wide range of Diwali gifts to India for their relatives via several websites offering such facilities.
Diwali has always been a much anticipated festival amongst Indians as it knits together people from various regional, cultural as well as religious backgrounds into one conglomerate. Better known as the festival of lights, it is an occasion when we indulge in spreading the message of cheerfulness and brotherhood forgetting all our past miseries and enmity. There is plenty of thought, planning, fervor and excitement associated with this festival as it illuminates our lives and eradicates darkness. Plenty of arrangements are made well in advance including obligatory customs like the Diwali puja, lighting of diyas and the customary exchanging of Diwali gifts associated with good wishes and love.

... The quality and variety of Diwali gifts may vary depending on the receiver, budget and the intent behind it. Traditional presents such as a hamper of handmade goodies are quite common while the more regular stuffs include dry fruits and sweets. In addition wall hangings, diyas and decorative pieces make good Deepavali souvenirs. People who are not restricted by monetary constraints might gift each other gold and silver coins or crockeries. However, today more elaborate gifting ideas have become popular especially amongst the current generation.
Not everyone is fortunate enough to celebrate Diwali in presence of their family. Nevertheless with the emergence of internet, people living abroad can now be an integral part of such celebrations by sending Diwali gifts to India to their family members back home. There are numerous websites offering to send your loved ones the perfect gift ranging from decorative candles, lanterns and diyas to baskets filled with mouth-watering collection of dry fruits and sweets. For the more affluent class, gifting relatives with intricately decorated Puja Thali containing utensils of pure gold, sterling silver, brass, copper, or steel on Dhanteras is a common ritual.
Diwali celebrations are incomplete without crackers. Ones working overseas who can’t make it home on this auspicious event can send such gifts to Delhi or any other city especially for their kids who are always excited to burst them and enjoy the colorful lights emitted from them. You can even send idols of Lakshmi and Ganesha to the elderly members of your family as it indicates good luck. For souvenirs to friends and distant relatives, a box of sweets containing a perfect blend of laddoos, gulab jamuns, anjir rolls, kaju, pista or badam barfi’s are a conventional choice.
While selecting Deepavali presents for our dearest ones, we should be careful about certain things. The recipient is of prime importance here as we need to be aware of his or her likes. While a box of chocolates and crackers would be ideal for kids, sticking to more conventional presents like miniature idols of gods of Lakshmi and Ganesha would be more apt for the older generation. A simple yet thoughtful gift showing your gratitude will mean a lot and be appreciated more than any expensive item. Accompanying your gifts with customized greeting cards can show how much you treasure and value your culture and relationships.
