How Important Is It To Send Children On School Trips?

When we think back to our schooldays we remember lots of different things. But perhaps one thing that pops back into most adult minds is school travel. Most schools arrange a number of trips during the year for their pupils to go on. These trips are related to all kinds of different subjects, and they will often involve visiting locations that are local to the school.
This refers to day trips more than anything else. But there is also the opportunity for children today to go on an education tour, which gives them a chance to spend longer away from the school environment and home as well. They get a chance to learn more about a particular topic and many different aspects of it. A good example would be learning a different language. What better way could there be to do this than to go to the country where that language is spoken?
One of the most popular destinations to visit on this kind of educational school trips has to be France. School trips to France are very important when it comes to showing pupils how the language is spoken and used on a daily basis in that country. Schools travel really can take pupils into ...
... another world that is very different from being in the classroom. It is this part of any trip that makes it so worthwhile and memorable, sometimes even years later!
Imagine this situation, for example. A child is starting to learn French in the classroom. They see phrases written on the board, they read them in a book and they repeat them as they learn. But this is a very sterile environment and while pupils can learn a lot in this situation, they will not learn as much as they would if they were able to visit France for a day or more.
But there is more to consider than this as well. For instance you have to imagine the actual experience of being immersed in learning the language. The child is not simply in the classroom, surrounded by lots of English speaking pupils trying to learn French. They are surrounded by French people to whom it is perfectly natural to speak this language. They can see signs, listen to conversations, walk past businesses and see all aspects of what the French life is like. This is what drives them to get more involved and to learn more in the process.
Put simply, it is difficult to see how any child could return from France on such a trip without knowing more about the language. This is the same for all school trips, and it is all due to the immersion factor. As you can see, it has a lot to be commended for and it is far more enjoyable as well.
