When we were homeschooling high school, we used the book "Total Health" as our curriculum. We used both the Junior. High and the Senior High texts. My boys enjoyed them both. If perhaps you are buying only one, I would probably pick up the one that best matches the age of your child. If they are 9th grade or under, or possibly if they are very sheltered and older, get the Junior High. If they are over 9th grade, or spend time with their youth groups, various secular kids, etc., then I might get the Sr. High version.

We decided to not get the workbooks, however. I needed them to learn the subject matter however I had many other high powered classes at that time, I did not wish to have yet one more thing for them to be tested on. We were working on Latin and Biology and stuff back then, and it would have been simply excessive. Both times I utilized Total Health, I joined it with their sporting events to make it a PE credit. I did not record Health separately on their transcript. With their sporting events, I did have an SIMPLE 150 hours of PE, and I did give them a full credit, but they were doing soccer, swim team and ...
... baseball at the time.

If I had listed Total Health by itself on the transcript, I think I would have assigned it 1/2 credit, mainly because even with the tests, I do not think that it would take the time for a full year at 1 hour a day to finish. In Washington State, we are expected to teach health at some stage in their lives, however they do not state when or how much, therefore I had no requirement as to it being an entire credit in high school. If you wish to supplement for high school health to enable it to be a full credit, give some thought to taking a CPR or basic first aid course.

Total Health is a great book, and each of my boys enjoyed it. In fact, when I purchased the first one, the kids wound up reading it by themselves over summer prior to when school actually began. It had a great tone, and had a good harmony concerning conservative issues together with a number of the situations that Christian kids might experience at school or youth group.
