International Schools- How Are They Different From Ordinary Schools
Recently, I saw a serial on national television; it is basically about how difficult it is to be a parent? – The moment the main characters become parents, their lives changes and mainly revolves around the children; their admissions, their studies, career, marriage [endless list]. The bottom line is that parents are always worried and strives to give “the best” to their child; whether it is clothes or schools. Finding a school, which provide quality education is perhaps the most difficult task for parents, but most us does not even consider International schools in India, which has become a synonym for excellent education.
Though now many people have started seeking enrolment in IB school in India, however, the overall percentage is not so encouraging [mainly due to some myths that surrounding it]. An average father or mother would end up enrolling the child in schools with state boards or central curriculum [no offences to educational system in the country]; no doubt they are good, but they lack innovation and modern approach towards delivery of knowledge. So, if you are looking for the best for your kid; then ...
... why not consider educational institutes, with global curriculum?
Let us see what are factors that distinguish International school in India from the other educational institutes? – The first thing which is unique to these educational institutes is its “modern approach”; it intends to groom the students to excel not only at their home grounds, but also at global arena. With their experimental learning, these schools, unlike its counterparts in the country emphasizes over simplification of concepts, which makes the children understand it and not just mug it up for the sake of it.
This kind of intellectualization benefits the students, when they grow up and start their careers. They won’t find it difficult to learn any new thing, thus in a way paving their path to success. IB schools in India, in fact focuses on providing quality education, rather than quantity education, where the children are never encouraged to think independently to rationalize the situation. Most of the educational institutes with state or central curriculum are teacher-centric, where only teachers speak without even realizing whether the child is getting the concepts clear or not.
But, being a student centric curriculum, gives equal opportunity to the students to speak up whatever is there on their minds. Their curiosity is never killed; thus, their cognitive abilities develop as compared to the kids of their age studying in other schools. This is something that makes International schools in India so different from other educational institutes.
India is rapidly moving on the path of becoming the super power, so, it is very essential that the kids get enough exposure to other cultures and in term of contemporary syllabus and pedagogy. IB schools in India provides both – being a destination for students from different countries [due to uniformity of syllabus] and also as it has adopted relevant and contemporary syllabus, that helps the students to meet the demands. Cross cultural interaction result in development of an international outlook, which helps them to get and keep up with the growing challenges in this world, which unfortunately is the missing factor in some of the state and central board curriculum.
