Samsung Devices Boasts Record Profit, Apple On Top

Looking at the sales figures of smart phones near Christmas, the South Korean firm Samsung seems to have won the battle. It is really a good boost to the company after it has rung up record quartly profit. On the other hand it US rival Motorolla has slided down. This miracle in sales figure of the Samsung mobile phones has been done by none else but its flagship Galaxy smart phone series. It has assisted the manufacturer to sell 5.3 trillion devices and winning it £2.9 billion operating profit in the three months.


Contrary to the soaring sales of Samsung Motorola has dipped with a loss of $80 million (£51m) in the fourth quarter of year 2011. It is really a bad omen for its smart phones and tablets in the market. Market experts say that the tie up of Samsung with Google is proving very lucrative for the company. Google, the computing giant which supplies Android operating system for smart phones of the company is also happy with these sales figures.

Apple is on top rank in the sale of smart phones these days, but we have not forgotten the time of September last year when Samsung has usurped the throne of Apple. But now Apple has got back upper hand in market by selling 37 million phones in Christmas season just because of its latest flagship smart phone Apple iPhone 4s. Apple iPhone 4s has lagged behind all its counterparts in the battle of smart phones.

Nevertheless we haven’t got to know how many handsets have been sold by Samsung in the last quarter of year 2011, but Strategy Analytics, a research firm poses its sale at 36.5 million units. As for Finland based Nokia, Strategy Analytics puts its sale 19.6 millions with third rank in the list of top selling smart phones. Coming to the main battle, Apple is ahead in the race. It boasts to enjoy 37.4 per cent operating margin in comparison to Samsung’s 11 per cent.
