Load lifters or lifting equipments have been used since ancient times. However, while using such equipments there are always risk involved while dealing with heavy objects. While operating such machines you must aware of its safety regulations and it should be maintained properly. As per the LOLER regulations you must know the following rules before using lifting equipments:

Before using the equipment for lifting purpose it is important to check if the machine is strong and stable to be used. You must check if the machine is not overworked by lifting more weight than it is designed for. You must also make sure that the machine is setup correctly so as to avoid any mishap.
You must make sure that the lifting machine has all the safety information clearly displayed on it for the operators. Workers may not remember always how to use each part of the equipment and in such situations the safety information would be of great use especially if the operator is a new employee.
Before allowing any person to operate the lifting equipment it is important that the person receives adequate training on how to use the machine and its safety regulations. People working around the lifting machine must also be trained to know the safety precautions.
