Top 4 Reasons To Buy Rta Cabinets

If you have considered remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, and have been doing any research, you have most likely come across the term Ready-to-Assemble or RTA Cabinets. With their popularity rising fast, you probably have some questions about them. In this article, we have outlined the top 5 reasons for buying RTA Cabinets over the brand name or store bought cabinets (both kitchen and bathroom)
1). Price - Whether you are shopping on-line or in a store, the biggest advantage to buying RTA cabinets is the price. While the materials and quality are comparable, the price difference between a name brand cabinet such as Aristokraft and an RTA cabinet line can be as much as 50%. It is the similar to buying generic groceries versus the name brand- you are getting a comparable product at a significantly reduced price. Even when you compared ready-to-assemble cabinets from Home Depot or Lowes versus similar ones sold online, you will notice just as big of a discrepancy in price.
2). Easy of Assembly- Aside from the complicated and hard to assemble cabinets sold at Ikea, most RTA cabinets are extremely easy to ...
... put together. The average cabinet that you find online comes with every needed in one box. With a cam lock assembly, the only thing needed to assemble the cabinets is a screwdriver.
3). Quality of Materials- This may be the biggest differentiator. Unless you are having custom cabinets built, most of the brand name cabinets use particleboard or fiberboard for the actual cabinet box. Higher quality RTA cabinets will use solid plywood for the cabinet box and offer solid wood face frames and doors. This makes for a much stronger cabinet when assembled and will be less likely to sag or warp.
4). Lead Times - When you are buying cabinets at the traditional cabinet store or home supply store, the average wait for cabinets is 6-8 weeks. Since RTA cabinets come in stock sizes and are traditionally made overseas, the manufacturer/importer will carry an inventory of each cabinet size. Because of this, even the slower cabinet companies can ship your cabinets in 2-3 weeks. In addition to the shorter lead times, you can also get delivery right to your door.
By assembling and even installing RTA cabinets yourself, it can take the average kitchen remodel from $15-20,000 with name brand cabinets, to around $3-5,000 with RTA cabinets (which is money right in your pocket). So if you are thinking about remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, take a first or even second look at ready-to-assemble cabinets.
