Thieves from all walks of life have been able to steer clear of police over the years using various ways to disappear permanently. Many crooks still find ways to vanish today, even though new micro technologies are readily available and used almost everywhere. People can get away from areas easily, but many make mistakes that end up costing them most of their lives in jail.

Whether put together with another idea or just done on its own, assuming a new identity has been the go to strategy for criminals everywhere. Though it seems like a complex venture, stealing someone's information and relocating is actually pretty easy to do. Unfortunately a large number of these people get caught eventually, and one of two reasons is usually the culprit. Many criminals leave in a rush following their crime, and given the disappearance, they will usually become a primary suspect. Many criminals are known throughout the country once they are missing for some time, and police release photos to help. The second reason is the particular person will often not leave their past life completely out of conversation with their new friends ...
... which ultimately ties back into their past.

Many people get a new US passports using fake ID in advance of their offenses and use them to go away quickly. These preparations are often made under a new identity in case they are discovered before they are able to make a getaway. The idea is to apply for legal Russian visas or visas for another area for visitation and ultimately apply for citizenship. Many countries have guidelines that do not allow for their citizens to be taken for crimes abroad. Crooks have often run into problems with government once there, but they do end up getting away. Sometimes, living like this can be even worse than going to prison, and people will sometimes make a deal to come back to prison rather than living in the other country.

Many individuals place themselves in a type of prison when they escape and have to reside as a recluse forever. Most crooks will end up living as a recluse or wanderer in fear of being trapped for the rest of their lives. Many of these people become deranged if not already and carry out more acts of crime until they are busted and placed in prison for the rest of their lives.
