March Seems To Be A Big Month For Browser Updates Says One Maryland Web Design Company

March seems to be the month of Browser Madness! With Internet Explorer 9 set for release on March 14, a likely release of Mozilla Firefox 4 within the next week, the recent and final release of Google’s Chrome 10, and the countdown to the end for IE6, March appears to be a big month for browser updates, says one Maryland Web Design Company.
Internet Explorer 9 will release on March 14, 2011 at 9pm PST.
As developers, we always dread having to code for all the various older versions of Internet Explorer, and so the announcement of the IE9 release date holds a special meaning for us. The release is a long anticipated revamping of IE that includes standards support for more HTML5 features, improvements to CSS3 improvements, privacy protection settings to stop tracking, better JavaScript performance, and better hardware acceleration.
The improvements to HTML5 and CSS3 include support for
CSS3 2-D transforms
CSS3 new selectors
HTML5 semantic elements
WOFF font format
A geo-location API.
IE9 will definitely help ...
... in the internet’s efforts to adapt HTML5, but only if users upgrade! Microsoft users have a long history of delaying their upgrades…. witness the efforts that Microsoft has to make to get people finally off of IE6: Ie6countdown.com As a Maryland Web Design company, we would like to add our voice to this effort. Please upgrade to the newest version of IE and join Microsoft’s crusade to move the world off of IE6!
Firefox 4 is in Release Candidate State as of March 9, 2011
Mozilla announced that Firefox 4 has moved from beta testing to the release candidate stage on March 9. This means that this version of the software will become the official release if no bugs are discovered. The release can be downloaded to Windows, Linux and Mac machines, and Mozilla says that offers “general stability, performance, and compatibility improvements.” You can read the release notes here: Mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/4.0rc1/releasenotes.
There have been more than 8,000 bugs since the beta version of Firefox 4 was released eight months ago. You will still need to test your favorite Firefox add-ons for compatibility, but about 70 percent of them have been updated for Firefox 4 so far.
Chrome 10 Releases
Google has released version 10 of its Chrome web browser, which is faster (Google says as much as 66 percent faster), and more secure (you can encrypt your passwords with your own secret passphrase if you keep them in your browser), and does not need to be downloaded if you already run Chrome. It updates itself, which is a very nice feature because there is only ever one release of Chrome that we developers have to code. Chrome 10 has a new JavaScript engine and Flash sandboxing (to avoid crashes and Flash security flaws) for better performance. It also offers new malware protection and faster HTML5 video.
There is a revised Settings panel, which now looks like a browser tab, and has a Search box so you can quickly find whatever setting you are looking for.
