From Thimphu the travel to Gangtey is a dramatic 4 hr drive over the high mountain pass of Dochu la (10,130 ft) and entering the Phobjikha Valley, passing through thick forests and oak and reaching Gangtey. One can visit the village and the Gangtey Gompa (Monastary), the only Nyingmapa monastery in this region. Travel to Bhutan and you will witness the winter home of Black necked crane, who drift from north Tibet. Bhutan Holiday is incomplete without visiting the last major tourist destination Punakha en-route to which you will pass by Wangduephodrang which overlooks confluence of two rivers.
